Changes to consumer laws

28 June 2010

This interview was first aired on TVNZ's NZI Business program on 28 June 2010.

Chapman Tripp Senior Solicitor Kelly McFadzien discusses the Government's moves to streamline and align New Zealand's consumer laws with Australia's. McFadzien says some consumer legislation is 'dated' and 'poorly understood', making the reform paper a step towards achieving what the Minister of Consumer Affairs calls 'one law'. McFadzien discusses its implications for retailers and the changes to lay-buy practices.
