  • Vector on its sale of its gas transmission business and non-Auckland gas distribution business utilties investor First State Funds for $952.5m
  • Z Energy on the debt capital raising and competition law aspects of its $785m purchase of Chevron New Zealand's Caltex service station network
  • on all three of the New Zealand Government’s Mixed Ownership Model transactions involving state-owned energy companies: Mighty River Power (now Mercury ($1.7b)), Genesis Energy ($736m) and Meridian Energy($1.88b)
  • Mighty River Power (now Mercury), as its key legal advisor over a long period, on a wide range of projects including the establishment and operation of many of its geothermal power stations (Kawerau, Nga Awa Purua, Ngatamariki), and ongoing construction, consenting and operations and maintenance work relating to its substantial portfolio of hydro assets
  • the Solomon Islands Electricity Authority on four renewable energy projects in the Solomon Islands, including the proposed Tina River Hydro Development Project, which involves the development of a new 20MW hydro power plant and will be the Solomon Islands' first PPP
  • Crown Irrigation Investments on the government's investments in regional irrigation schemes, and a number of irrigation entities on the consenting and development of hydro generation and/or irrigation schemes
  • Shell and Maui Development on matters associated with its sale of the Maui natural gas pipeline to investment funds managed by First State Investments for $335m
  • Transpower on aspects of major grid upgrade projects including the consenting of its Wairakei to Whakamaru Replacement Transmission Line Project and the construction contracts for its North Auckland Grid Upgrade Project
  • Newcrest Mining on its farm-in arrangements with Laneway Resources in relation to gold mining tenements in the Waihi mining area
  • Methanex on development work related to the upgrade of its existing methanol production facilities in New Zealand
  • Beach Energy on its petroleum exploration interests in New Zealand
  • Z Energy on the selldown by Infratil and the NZ Superannuation Fund (Z’s founding investors) of a 29% (circa $710m) stake in Z Energy
  • the InfraRed Capital Partners Consortium on the development of a 100MW open cycle gas turbine power plant which is being procured by Nova Energy, a subsidiary of Todd Corporation
  • Te Ahi O Maui Limited Partnership on the development of a 25MW geothermal power plant. The development includes both the initial drilling operations for geothermal fluids from the Kawerau reservoir and the design and construction of the power plant, and
  • Bathurst Resources and its New Zealand subsidiary Buller Coal on its successful resource consent application for the Escarpment coal mine (estimated 4.6m tonne coal reserve) on the Denniston Plateau on the West Coast of the South Island.
