  • Chorus, New Zealand’s largest telecommunications infrastructure company, on its legal requirements including advising on:
    • the negotiation of its 10 year Network Infrastructure Project Agreement with Crown Fibre Holdings to build the ultra-fast broadband infrastructure in New Zealand
    • the regulatory determinations setting the price of its core services, and associated competition and commercial issues such as the Commerce Commission’s final pricing principle (FPP) for Chorus’ copper lines network, with the final determination resulting in a successful outcome
    • all aspects of a Commerce Commission investigation into an alleged breach of Chorus’ Unbundled Bitstream Access (UBA) terms and conditions
  • Spark, New Zealand's largest telecommunications service provider, on a diverse range of matters, including advising on:
    • its acquisition of Computer Concepts Limited
    • product and regulatory issues relating to Spark’s new digital products
    • inter-carrier wholesale and interconnection arrangements with other carriers
    • the formation of an incorporated joint venture between Paymark Limited, Spark, Vodafone Limited and 2Degrees to establish “trusted service manager” infrastructure to facilitate the provision of mobile wallet services using Near-Field Communications (NFC), for service providers (including banks) in New Zealand
    • on a wide range of procurement processes, transactions and general matters
Technology
  • Kiwibank on the replacement of its core banking system, a high priority project involving expenditure of approximately $100m over a five year period
  • BNZ, Westpac, ANZ and Kiwibank on a range of technology matters
  • Fisher & Paykel Healthcare on its global ERP transformation project involving the implementation and roll out of an ERP system across several jurisdictions
  • New Zealand Post on contracts for the implementation and operation of a new FMIS and ERP system
  • Maritime New Zealand on the outsourcing of its national maritime distress and safety radio network, and the construction and operation of a MEOSAR satellite ground station
  • Counties Manukau District Health Board on its 10 year Strategic Relationship Agreement with IBM
  • Treasury on the Claims Management Support Services Agreement between AMI (now Southern Response Earthquake Services (Southern Response)) and IAG to enable Southern Response to continue to manage claims arising from the Canterbury earthquakes
  • Microsoft on various matters relevant to its business in New Zealand and Australia including regularly advising on cloud issues for regulated customers in the financial sector
  • Vector as a provider of legal services to Vector’s electricity and gas metering business units, provided primarily through its subsidiaries, Advanced Metering Assets and Advanced Metering Services, we have advised on a range of matters. These included the acquisition of Meridian Energy's smart metering business which involved negotiating a significant long-term electricity smart metering agreement between Vector and Meridian

  • NZME on its demerger from APN News & Media and subsequent listing on the NZX Main Board. NZME is a leading New Zealand integrated media and entertainment business and owns the New Zealand Herald, radio stations such as Newstalk ZB and Hauraki, and the e-commerce site GrabOne
  • The Motion Picture Association of America: Counsel to the Motion Picture Association of America in copyright and asset freezing litigation against notorious internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom
  • Pukeko Pictures on its co-production and funding arrangements with ITV, for the animated TV show 'Thunderbirds are Go!', a new take on the classic 1960's series
  • Weta Workshop on effects production agreements, merchandising licences and publishing contracts with Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, NBC Universal, Legendary Pictures and others
  • Māori Television on a range of matters including domain name arbitration before the World Intellectual Property Organisation and broadcasting rights and licensing issues, and
  • TVNZ on the transfer of its Archives Facility and Archives Collection, which holds all of the audio-visual materials that have been broadcast by TVNZ and its predecessors since broadcasting began in New Zealand.
