Chapman Tripp solicitor named finalist in the Women of Influence Awards

26 August 2014

Congratulations to Chapman Tripp Corporate solicitor, Althea Carbon, who is a finalist in the Emerging Leader category of the 2014 Women of Influence Awards.

An advocate of entrepreneurship and volunteering, Wellington-based Althea co-founded Charity-IT, which helps non-profit organisations improve their IT infrastructure while providing an opportunity for IT professionals to use their skills for good.

Althea has a column, 'Lawyering for Good', in the Young Lawyers' Committee magazine Advocate which aims to increase awareness of public interest law. She is a mentor with the Asian and Exchange Law Students Collective at Victoria University; a member of the Asia New Zealand Foundation Leadership Network; and she co-founded the blog, Business Is the New Black (BITNB) in a bid to interest more young women in entrepreneurship, science and technology. See her full finalist profile here.

Now in their second year, the Women of Influence Awards are designed to support, promote and celebrate diversity and the invaluable contribution women make to New Zealand.  The Emerging Leader category recognises young women aged between 16 and 30 who demonstrate a capacity to influence and act as catalysts for change, particularly in advocating and giving a voice to younger women and their concerns.
