Congratulations to EBOS and Milford Asset Management, winners of the Chapman Tripp Mergers & Acquisitions Transaction of the Year and the Chapman Tripp Fund Manager of the Year – Equities at the 2014 INFINZ Industry Awards held on 8 May.
EBOS won the M&A award for its $1.1 billion acquisition of Symbion in 2013. The judges noted that it was a "multi-faceted and transformational transaction" involving "the combination of two substantial businesses across two countries, the introduction of a cornerstone shareholder and a substantial equity raising".
Chapman Tripp advised EBOS on the acquisition.
This was one of three awards on the night for EBOS as they also took home the award for Equity Issue of the Year, and Managing Director/CEO Mark Waller received the Leadership Award.
2014 was the fifth consecutive win in the equities fund manager category for Milford Asset Management. Judges noted that "Milford enjoyed another year with NZ equity performance significantly above the benchmark return" and "Mark Warminger has continued to demonstrate an uncanny ability to select the best performing stocks".
