Eight new senior appointments at Chapman Tripp

Victoria Heine, Brad Kidd, Catherine Somerville and Matt Sumpter are appointed partners and Penny Sheerin a principal from 1 December. Emma Harding became a senior solicitor on 1 November.

Managing Partner, Andrew Poole, said the appointments demonstrated the firm’s commitment to providing quality services to its clients and to developing the careers of its outstanding lawyers.

The promotions cover Chapman Tripp’s corporate, investment, funds & savings products, litigation, resource management and intellectual property services - strengthening the firm in its core areas of practice.

Victoria Heine – Partner, Wellington
Victoria specialises in litigation, particularly competition, regulatory, and public law litigation. She is also a member of the firm’s regulatory prosecutions team. Before joining Chapman Tripp in 2005, Victoria was a partner in another New Zealand law firm.

Bradley Kidd – Partner, Wellington
Bradley is a corporate and commercial law specialist. He also advises on investment, funds and savings products. His experience ranges from corporate finance, listed company transactions and mergers and acquisitions to securities and funds management. He also advises a range of corporate and commercial clients on business and governance matters.

Catherine Somerville – Partner, Auckland
Catherine specialises in environment, planning and resource management law. Catherine has particular experience with infrastructure and the project management of large developments, including advising on all levels of the consenting process.

Matt Sumpter - Partner, Auckland
Matt specialises in intellectual property, trade practice law, regulatory matters and civil litigation. He is a recognised intellectual property expert in legal guides including Chambers Global and PLC Which Lawyer.

Penny Sheerin – Principal, Auckland
Penny Sheerin specialises in investment, funds & savings products and New Zealand and cross border securities law. She advises on product design, establishment, restructuring and ongoing compliance of investment products (including PIE and FDR structures).

Emma Harding – Senior Solicitor, Auckland
Emma specialises in investment, funds and savings products, advising principally on superannuation and all aspects of the KiwiSaver regime. Emma has advised on the establishment of five KiwiSaver schemes, including the ASB KiwiSaver Scheme.

Chapman Tripp is also pleased to welcome two new senior legal staff to the firm:

Susan Barker – Senior Solicitor, Wellington
Susan has joined the Finance team. She has several years' experience at another New Zealand law firm in the areas of taxation law and the law of Charities. Susan also has worked for the Crown Law Office.

Teresa Weeks – Senior Solicitor, Auckland
Teresa has re-joined Chapman Tripp after spending five years abroad. Teresa specialises in environmental, planning and climate change law. Teresa’s UK experience includes advising the UK Government (as a policy consultant) on the implementation of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.
