Accolade Wines buys Mud House

Chapman Tripp has acted for Australia’s Accolade Wines on its purchase of Blenheim-based Mud House Wine Group’s leading wine brands Mud House and Waipara Hills and the leasing of its vineyards from another new owner. The sale is conditional on Overseas Investment Office (OIO) approval.

Chapman Tripp worked with Accolade Wines’ internal team on all aspects of the transaction, and will continue to advise on the OIO application. The sale also included the Dusky Sounds, Haymaker and Skyleaf brands of wine, related assets, inventory, and staff agreements.

Partner Tim Tubman led the team.

Tim Tubman said: “Chapman Tripp has advised on many of the most significant and complex corporate transactions involving off-shore investment into New Zealand and we are seeing increased demand for opportunities to invest in New Zealand’s wine industry.

“We are pleased to be playing a role in helping Accolade Wines strengthen its New Zealand wine portfolio.”
