Chapman Tripp advises on Mercantile's NZX Main Board listing

Chapman Tripp advised ASX-listed Mercantile Investment Company Limited (MVT) on its NZX overseas listed issuer listing, which commenced on the NZX Main Board on Monday 6 July. The Sydney-based investment company, chaired by Sir Ron Brierley, is the first ASX-listed company to list in this way for some time, in a move aimed at expanding its New Zealand shareholder base and profile.

The Chapman Tripp team advised on all elements of the listing and was led by partner Penny Sheerin, assisted by senior solicitors Sanna Boow and Brendon Orr.
Penny Sheerin said: “We were delighted to work with Mercantile on their listing. As an NZX Sponsor, we were able to complete the full listing for Mercantile without the need to engage another NZX participant, which made the process more efficient for the client.”
Chapman Tripp was the first large firm to be accredited by NZX as an NZX Sponsor, and is currently the only law firm NZX Sponsor authorised to list issuers on the NZX Main Board securities exchange and the NZDX debt market.
