Chapman Tripp partner appointed to Overseas Investment Act review panel

Chapman Tripp partner Tim Williams has been appointed to the Technical Reference Group charged with assisting the Government in the review of the Overseas Investment Act.

The Government is reviewing overseas investment rules to make foreign investment in New Zealand easier and more attractive, while at the same time ensuring sensitive land, assets and resources are protected. The review is intended to focus on the most problematic areas of the legislation, so that unnecessary barriers to foreign investment can be quickly identified and removed.

Tim is a corporate & commercial partner. He specialises in advising securities law advice, mergers and acquisitions, funds management products and restructurings. Tim is also on the NZ Markets Disciplinary Tribunal and has previously advised the New Zealand Government and NZX on law and rule reforms.
