Doug Alderslade is a partner focusing on commercial dispute resolution and employment law.

Doug has extensive experience in advising many of the firm’s corporate clients in a wide range of commercial and employment matters. This has included appearances at mediation, arbitration, the High Court, Court of Appeal and Employment Court. Recent experience includes litigation concerning contractual disputes in relation to significant commercial transactions; acting for major international organisations in relation to alleged price fixing; and providing advice on a range of employment issues. He also practises in disputes relating to commercial transactions including business acquisitions, contractual issues, competition, company, regulatory and security legislation.

Recent experience

Doug's experience includes:

  • advising Edison against Cornerstone in relation to a NZ$42 million contractual dispute over the sale of land 
  • advising Chubb New Zealand in issues arising from the death of a prisoner in a prison transport vehicle 
  • successfully acting for a significant commercial client in a dispute relating to warranties on the sale of a business 
  • advising Roche Products (New Zealand) in commercial litigation and a Commerce Commission prosecution relating to alleged price fixing, and 
  • acting for several District Health Boards before a full court of the Employment Court in relation to the validity of a Collect Employment Agreement.
