John Holland specialises in general corporate & commercial law.

He has a particular interest in securities law, energy law, mergers & acquisitions, construction law and competition law issues – advising clients throughout New Zealand. John’s securities law experience includes acting on initial public offerings, advising on employee share schemes and in the private equity area.

John has been a member of the Securities Commission since 1 January 2007 and is a director of dual listed company Kathmandu Holdings Limited.


Recent experience

John has advised:

  • Rural Equities Limited on the merger with the New Zealand Rural Property Trust
  • Meridian Energy in the procurement of its White Hill, West Wind and Te Uku wind farms 
  • Mooring Systems on its merger with Cavotec, a company based in The Netherlands, to form Cavotec MSL Holdings Limited
  • listed companies Ryman Healthcare, Hallenstein Glasson and Cavotec MSL on employee share schemes, and
  • Canterbury Grasslands Limited, a company with dairy interests in New Zealand and the USA on various capital raising initiatives during 2009.
