Briony is a member of our commercial litigation team, and specialises in public law litigation and regulatory issues.
Briony advises multinational and national companies, political organisations and industry bodies on a wide range of major public law, commercial litigation and strategic advice. She works closely with the competition, regulatory & antitrust team to provide regulatory advice across a number of sectors with particular expertise in the gas, electricity and telecommunications sectors.
Recent experience
Briony's experience includes:
- managing and advising on the litigation portfolio of a major New Zealand company
- preparing submissions for an electricity and gas distribution company regarding control authorisation terms and process, as determined by the Commerce Commission
- advising on litigation options and strategy for various companies including an overseas private wealth and asset management group, an international petroleum and exploration company and many New Zealand companies
- advising an Officer and Office of Parliament on various aspects of their statutory regimes including issues of accountability, functions and powers, strategy and validating legislation, and
- advising an electricity and gas company on options for challenging Ministry of Economic Development reform proposals, and preparing submissions in response to discussion papers and draft legislation.
