Geoff joined Chapman Tripp in 1999 and has specialised in all aspects of employment law for ten years.
He provides day to day advice for a number of large and medium size organisations, and appears frequently before the mediation service, the Employment Relations Authority and the Employment Court.
Clients value Geoff’s practical and commercially astute approach. He has developed particular expertise in ensuring the quick and effective resolution of employment related disputes.
Recent experience
Geoff has advised:
- the Herald on Sunday in defending a high profile employment claim
- numerous employers and employees both bringing and defending restraint of trade claims
- a large employer defending complex workplace bullying allegations in the Employment Relations Authority Employment Court and Court of Appeal
- on the high profile closure of several manufacturing plants
- receivers and administrators in insolvency situations
- employers and employees during senior executive exit negotiations and restructuring situations
- PEP and CCMP on employment issues arising from their acquisition of Independent Liquor
- employers dealing with health and safety incidents
- employers about KiwiSaver and total remuneration issues, working closely with Chapman Tripp’s Funds management team, and
- employers involved in collective bargaining.
Between 2001 and 2003 Geoff worked as in-house counsel and human resources manager in a large community trust, whilst continuing to work part-time at Chapman Tripp.
