Jack is a partner in our litigation & dispute resolution team. He is also a senior counsel, focusing on advocacy and advice in all aspects of commercial and public law.
Jack appears regularly as leading counsel in arbitrations and in litigation in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. He has extensive experience on a wide range of disputes involving major commercial contracts, competition law, judicial review, trade practices, company law, IP, major rental reviews and defamation. Recent highlights include successfully representing the plaintiff in the judicial review of the Auckland District Health Board’s award of a long-term diagnostic services contract, and successfully acting for Telecom in defending a major misuse of market power claim by the Commerce Commission.

- MasterCard International Inc. in civil action brought against it and its member banks under the Commerce Act
- F. Hoffman-La Roche on protection of its patent rights in the Tamiflu® antiviral treatment and prophylaxis
- Diagnostic Medlab in its legal challenge to have a $560 million pathology contract set aside on the basis of an unfair tender process
- the ACT Party in the first case brought to New Zealand’s Supreme Court in Prebble & Ors v Huata, and
- Parliament, by providing an independent legal opinion on the Auditor-General’s inquiry into the legitimacy of pre-election spending by MPs.
