Kirsten specialises in corporate and commercial law with a particular focus on banking and finance, insolvency and restructuring, commercial contracts, commercial property and statutory and regulatory compliance. 

Recent experience

Kirsten has advised:

  • receivers and liquidators of various business on the sale and realisation of assets
  • a number of clients with financing and security arrangements from both a lending and borrowing perspective, including compliance with relevant consumer legislation and in respect of the effect of and compliance with the financial advisers regime
  • various clients, including Dairy Holdings, Meridian Energy and Silver Fern Farms on the sale of commercial and rural properties by way of tender, auction and private treaty
  • Jade Software Corporation (NZ) Limited on its international software and service arrangements for its port logistics product 
  • the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment on its long-term project to meet New Zealand’s obligations as a member of the International Energy Agency by tendering for companies to hold petroleum reserves for the Government in various jurisdictions, and
  • the Earthquake Commission with various co-funding arrangements with a number of New Zealand Universities, and advising on its long-term, multi-million dollar supply, maintenance and management contractual arrangement for the nationwide geological hazards monitoring system known as “GeoNet”.
