Luke specialises in resource management and environmental law.
Luke advises private and public clients on the resource management and environmental aspects of projects, litigation and mergers & acquisitions. He has advised on property subdivision and development, district and regional planning processes and public works and land acquisition in industrial, energy, infrastructure, and waste management matters.
Luke is the current treasurer for the NZPI Auckland Branch Committee.
Recent experience
Luke's experience includes:
advising on a range of land acquisition, environmental effects mitigation and iwi issues associated with a regional airport’s proposed trans-Tasman runway extension
drafting and advising on a commercial agreement addressing reverse sensitivity issues to resolve a private plan change
acting for an agricultural client on appeals to a regional policy statement and regional plan addressing soil, and water quality and quantity issues
advising clients on Auckland local government reform issues
advising waste industry clients on waste matters, including drafting submissions on proposed waste minimisation legislation and Council bylaws
acting for and appearing on behalf of the NZ Transport Agency in relation to a major residential/commercial development and an associated District Plan change in Albany
undertaking environmental and planning due diligence for a number of M&A acquisitions arising out of the South Canterbury Finance receivership, and
acting for a major retirement village provider on planning for and securing necessary resource consents for several retirement villages across New Zealand.
