Michael has been involved in most of New Zealand's significant restructurings and insolvencies over the last five years. He has extensive international restructuring and insolvency experience, having worked in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok and London.
Michael is recognised by Chambers Global, IFLR 1000 and PLC Which Lawyer? as a leading lawyer in restructuring & insolvency.
Recent experience
Michael has advised:
- the voluntary administrators of Icon Digital, which was New Zealand’s first major voluntary administration
- the Dominion Finance Group on the proposed moratorium arrangements
- ANZ National Bank on the restructuring of Aquiline Group's indebtedness
- the receivers of Bridgecorp
- OPI Pacific Finance on its NZ$404m moratorium with its secured and unsecured stockholders as part of the AU$1b workout of ASX-listed Octavia, and
- the New Zealand Bankers' Association on the Insolvency Law Reform Bill.
