Peter focuses on debt capital markets and major structured and asset financing transactions.
He has extensive experience in securitisation and project financing. He also actively advises banks on the financial regulatory environment in New Zealand.
Peter has advised on the majority of cross-border leasing transactions into New Zealand over the last decade. Traditionally acting for the New Zealand lessee, he has been involved in transactions from the US, Sweden, Germany, France, the UK and Japan, in relation to a wide range of assets including telecommunications equipment, power transmission assets and electricity generation facilities, as well as IT systems equipment, marine vessels and other movables.
Peter has considerable experience in project and infrastructure financing, having been involved in this area since the 1980s.

Recent experience
Peter has acted for:
- the arranger and lending banks on the complex, multi-jurisdictional project financing of a mobile telecommunications network in the South Pacific islands
- Telecom in relation to its participation in the $1.8b Southern Cross fibre optic cable, including the complex project financing of that project, and also to the Southern Cross joint venture entity itself with respect to a range of project matters
- Transpower New Zealand on the establishment and ongoing operation of its funding programmes, including the domestic bond, EMTN, CP programmes, Standby Facility documentation and general funding/treasury matters
- Transpower New Zealand on all its cross-border leasing transactions
- Meridian Energy in relation to its funding activities
- Allco in relation to certain aspects of its New Zealand activities
- Airways Corporation in relation to funding and a range of commercial matters, including certain foreign consulting activities and/or joint venture arrangements
- various institutional investors in a US$100m private placement by South Canterbury Finance, and
- Christchurch International Airport with respect to its debt programmes.
