Chapman Tripp partner, Garth Gallaway, has been elected chair of the Arts Foundation.
A Litigation partner in the firm’s Christchurch office, Garth is an avid collector of New Zealand art and it was this interest that led to his appointment as a Foundation trustee two years ago.
He said: “The Arts Foundation supports an array of wonderful, talented artists from funds donated by New Zealanders. It works with donors to establish funds with specific purposes and is an expert regarding legacies for the arts.”
The Arts Foundation has recently adopted a new strategic plan and Gallaway says that his primary focus as chair will be around this ongoing development.
“We are looking to increase our patronage and have recently announced a partnership with Westpac, which provides a reach that is incredibly exciting.
“The Arts Foundation is perfectly placed to strengthen its position as New Zealand’s leading private arts organisation and I expect our funds under management to grow significantly in partnership with generous donors in the next ten to twenty years.”
