Chapman Tripp Corporate solicitor Althea Carbon has won the
Westpac Hotpoints Emerging Leader category at the 2014 Women of Influence Awards.
Althea was nominated for her work to interest more young women in entrepreneurship, science and technology.
The Judge, Jamie Fitzgerald, said Althea's "commitment to not just her own impressive personal achievements, but also to the performance of others was very hard to match by anyone at any age."
The Emerging Leader category recognises young women aged between 16 and 30 who demonstrate a capacity to influence and act as catalysts for change, particularly in advocating and giving a voice to younger women and their concerns.
It's one of the eight awards handed out last night at a black tie event in Auckland. The Women of Influence awards celebrate bold, energetic women who are helping shape New Zealand and its future.
