Chapman Tripp supports Chinese Language Week

Chapman Tripp’s China Desk is proud to actively support Chinese Language Week 新西兰中文周.

Launched on Monday, the Desk challenged staff to learn five Mandarin phrases in five days. These included:

  • 你好 - nǐ hǎo - Hello
  • 你好吗?- nǐ hǎo ma - How are you?
  • 请 - qǐng - Please
  • 谢谢 - xiè xie - Thank you
  • 再见 - zài jiàn - Goodbye

The week was also celebrated with dumplings and traditional Chinese tea across the firm's three offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Auckland staff are also being offered the chance to learn Mandarin through an eight-week course through the Confucius Institute.

“We are delighted to support Chinese Language Week, particularly given Chinese culture has an important role in our firm," said China Desk director Jack Rao.

“Our China Desk is the leading practice in the New Zealand market and we firmly encourage staff to learn more about the culture and consider language classes."

The week is part of Chapman Tripp's focus on diversity. A similar week-long awareness campaign was held for Te wiki o te reo Māori last month.
