Five new appointments at Chapman Tripp

​Chapman Tripp is pleased to announce the promotion of four new senior solicitors and a China Desk director in the firm’s Auckland and Christchurch offices. The appointments are effective from 1 March 2017.

New senior solicitors

Natasha Kusel, Litigation, Auckland

Natasha specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution. She is a member of Chapman Tripp’s Restructuring and Insolvency team, and regularly provides advice to receivers, liquidators and debtors on large-scale matters. While Natasha predominantly works in the finance sector, she also has experience in the areas of trusts litigation and insurance law, and advises a diverse range of clients.

Stephanie Kalburgi, Private Client, Auckland

Stephanie is a solicitor in Chapman Tripp’s private client group. She has experience advising on trust matters including trust formation and administration, trust structuring, succession planning and has experience with contentious family situations involving trusts. She also advises on a range of corporate matters and the establishment and operation of not-for-profit entities such as charitable trusts and incorporated societies.

William Hughes, Corporate, Christchurch

William specialises in commercial property and real estate law. He has a wide range of experience, in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom, with particular expertise in relation to commercial leasing, development projects, and property disposals and acquisitions. William works closely with clients across a wide range of industries, and has particular experience and expertise in advising public sector clients.

Joseph Lill, Litigation, Christchurch

Joseph specialises in litigation and dispute resolution, with experience in insurance and health and safety disputes. He acts for clients on professional indemnity and statutory liability claims; health and safety investigations and proceedings, and commercial disputes.

New director – China Desk

Jack Rao, Corporate, Auckland

Jack is the newly-appointed director of Chapman Tripp's China Desk. His practice mainly covers real estate and corporate. Before joining Chapman Tripp in 2014, Jack had 15 years’ legal and commercial experience across the Asia-Pacific region. He was an entrepreneur and the legal director of a private equity business, the senior counsel of Treasury Holdings Group (China), and an associate and legal advisor at Paul Hastings, Allen & Overy, and the Chinese government.
